Roses That Look Like Peonies

Roses That Look Like Peonies

At Urth, we often get asked:
“Are those peonies?”

And honestly, we get it. These blooms are full, layered, and impossibly lush, everything you’d expect from a peony. But what you’re seeing is actually a rose. Or rather, a few special ones.

Peonies may be seasonal, but these garden roses bloom longer, travel better, and bring that same soft drama all year round.

Here are four of our absolute favourites:

Juliette

The most iconic David Austin rose, and an eternal favourite. Juliette opens up like a story- swirling peach petals, an old-world silhouette, and just the right amount of drama. She's a peony in disguise, but with all the resilience of a rose.

Kahala

Muted coral with a hint of sun-kissed terracotta. Kahala starts out sculpted and tight, then slowly opens into a big, ruffled bloom. She's warm, romantic, and full of personality, just like a sunset wrapped in petals.

Catalina

Soft yellow with a center that blooms like a buttercup. Catalina has that signature garden-rose fullness, with layers that unfold gently. She’s bright, joyful, and brings softness to every arrangement, a summer peony in spirit.

Pixie

Delicate pink with perfectly packed petals. Pixie may be smaller than the others, but she brings big peony energy, especially when fully open. Think dainty, dreamy, and surprisingly expressive in bunches.

Why We Love Them

These roses give us the look and feel of peonies, without the short season or the stress. They’re perfect for weddings, gifts, or just because days. And they hold up beautifully, both in the vase and in your hands.

So next time you spot a “peony” in your bouquet, take a closer look, it might just be one of these beauties in disguise.
